#1 NATIONAL BESTSELLER • A candid, hilarious look at women of a certain age and dealing with the tribulations of maintenance, menopause, empty nests, and life itself.

“Wickedly witty ... Crackling sharp ... Fireworks shoot out [of this collection].” —The Boston Globe

With her disarming, intimate, completely accessible voice, and dry sense of humor, Nora Ephron chronicles her life as an obsessed cook, passionate city dweller, and hapless parent. But mostly she speaks frankly and uproariously about life as an older woman. Utterly courageous, uproariously funny, and unexpectedly moving in its truth telling, I Feel Bad About My Neck is a scrumptious, irresistible treat of a book, full of truths, laugh out loud moments that will appeal to readers of all ages.

I have been meaning to read this book for quite some time, and finely did upon Ephron's recent death. Despite a rather scathing review by another iBook reader, I found this book to be light and entertaining. I especially thought it was insightful and truthful, as I am middle-ageist (fifty-three years old) myself. I took it as not meandering or disjointed, but rather a series of essays on now pressing issues and related reflections on the past. I particularly liked the chapters regarding her pursue and maintenance.

I have always loved the author's work and couldn't wait to read this book. I am 53 years old and expected to find a lot of humor about women as we age. Instead, I found a great deal of rambling that was senseless. I came away with the feeling that she either needed the money for another book or one last ego-stroking experience before people realized she really had nothing funny left to say. I can't believe that I wasted almost $10 on this book and received nothing in return. It would have been a much better experience to have re-read one of her previous books or to have rented one of her movies. What a sad way to end a successful career.
